A Platform to Connect More Musical Drama Lovers Together

Thanks to the user research into the target group, the product is designed to solve the problem that “How might we make an avid fan who follows a variety of musical drama activities (who) address the problem of integrating information from different platforms and socializing with other fans (what) so that he/she could have an immersive and enjoyable experience of watching a performance (why)”. It is believed that building such a platform will effectively unite these lovers together and meet the requirements of the target group with a relatively high purchasing power.

It is hard to have a glimpse of integrated drama information across different platforms. Though Damai, as the most comprehensive drama platform in China, tends to glorify dramas in order to sell, resulting in a lack of real comments. It requires target users to explore information across a variety of platforms to decide whether it is worth watching or not. In addition, as complained by most lovers, it is hard to find an integrated platform to share and enjoy their hobby with more people of the same interest. All of them are divided into small groups in Weibo, Wechat and Douban, failing to be exposed to public platforms or lovers outside those “groups”. Especially in the case of musical drama, avid fans are always likely to travel to another city to watch the play, it is extremely important to for a larger group for the purpose of easier question-asking and experience-asking. Lastly, they also consider it an essential need to have fun during slack seasons (when the drama is not touring) especially during the COVID when dramas are constantly cancelled. Without a community, it is hard for them to organize or join in online/offline activities.

Therefore, Musical Craze is designed to integrate solutions together in a website. It aims at building an information provider and a community (subscription-based) altogether to facilitate musical drama lovers in Shanghai or lovers who want to go to Shanghai for dramas. Lovers won’t be worried about unsatisfying experience caused by the “information gap” and are able to discuss or ask freely within the platform. It is also considered as a way to promote and expand the musical drama market in China.
