Narrow your scope

The process of narrowing the scope and confirming the topic is stressful. I spent much time thinking about the contents and functions of my final project. Firstly, I want to aggregate all the stadiums’ information in the whole China, which is quite a large scope. I even do not have the plan to sustain the website and make money from it. My first idea is like a charity website, lol….
After the second meeting with the professor, I start to have some basic thoughts about my websites. I want to make a website focused on soccer jerseys, but I still need to narrow my scope to find a good persona. Therefore, I interviewed five friends who had experience buying and collecting soccer jerseys. Some of them are proficient collectors, and some of them are rudimental collectors. All of them provided me with very useful information for my project. I found rudimental collectors do not know detailed information about the different versions of soccer jerseys. Different version has different price, textures, and meanings, so I think the contents of introducing detailed information about soccer jerseys is helpful to the rudimental collectors. Then I browsed the posts in “Jersey Circle” in Dongqiudi, a soccer news app. Many people cannot distinguish the fake jerseys and unluckily buy one. So, I think the information on distinguishing fake jerseys is also essential to rudimental collectors. I will design a Chinese website, so the persona now is the Chinese rudimental collectors of soccer jerseys.
However, I do not have so much time to collect information about every league and match in the world. I searched the information about Chinese fans’ demographics and found that English Premier League and La Liga have the most Chinese fans. Because this year is a World Cup year, I also decided to add information about World Cup jerseys. My final persona is the Chinese rudimental collectors of soccer jerseys of the Top 2 leagues. The business service is to help the users verify whether the jersey is real or fake, and users can send actual items or photos for this service. My expectation of the website is to help these fans easily find suitable jerseys and avoid fake ones.
