Find ethusiastic lovers of k-pop dance in Hongkong
K-pop music is ranked at number six among the top ten music markets worldwide, second among Asian music markets. K-pop has also become wildly popular in Hong Kong. Many Hong Kong young people are passionate about dancing.
However, with increasing needs, there hasn’t provided a platform exclusively for K-pop dance lovers to acquire and share relative information and experience in Hongkong. As a k-pop dance lover, I also encountered with many problems while looking for dance studios.
Therefore, I am aiming at building a website that integrates information about k-pop dance studios, and the places where people can practice dance in Hongkong (places, prices, contact methods) and enabling users to score and give short comments of these places. Also, integrates the information of k-pop dance activities in Hongkong. Meanwhile, the website will also provide a sharing function offering a community for those dance lovers to share their own experience and acquire unique personalized experience, as well as communicate with each other.
At the very beginning, I also take merchants’ side into consideration (dance studios, private dance teachers). Do they need a platform to post advertisements? So I choose 5 persona types to interview:1)Beginners who are interested in K-pop dance. 2)Ordinary K-pop dance lovers regard it as a spare-time hobby. 3) Enthusiastic K-pop dance lovers spend a lot on dancing. 4) Private k-pop dance teachers looking for students. 5) K-pop dance studios looking for students.
However, after interviewing, I discovered that merchants and teachers hold a rather cautious attitude toward a new platform, let alone pay for it. Among all the 5 types, enthusiastic k-pop dance lovers, whose amount ranks second among all the types, show the most interest and they also show a high willingness to pay for what they like. (20-35 years old, 3000-5000 HKD monthly spent on k-pop dance, 10 hours spent on dancing per week)
