Let’s see what’s behind a film…
There are several “players” involved in film festivals, which can be classified into four general categories: filmmakers, fans, industry and guests. However, I need to narrow down each category to see what are the main target persona that I’m looking for. Therefore, I further demonstrated each one as follows:
1. Film lovers who are interested in films: they mainly consist of the participants that are likely to sign up for volunteering in film festivals, and they try to find the award winners of films acknowledged by film festivals.
2. Filmmakers who want to participate in film festivals: they hope to find information of registering in compatible film festivals and want to recruit specific roles with common interests to form a filmmaking team.
3. Investors who want to support film festivals: they want to increase brand awareness and enhance brand image by sponsoring, and they also want to invest money on particular films or filmmakers to earn substantial profits.
4. Film festival organisations: they want to assist in the process of allocating resources and want to attract more attention from the audience.
After identifying each category, I decided to choose the second one, which are the filmmakers because they take up the biggest proportion of profit-driving. They are youngsters (mainly university/college students) with age among 18-25 and has been interested in films. Their monthly cost on shooting and producing their videos raise up to 2000-5000 yuan. They have been dissatisfied about the current data displayed where they have stronger needs of an integrated platform where they can easily gain accurate information and an online community that they can find people who have common interests.(br>
By customer journey mapping and story mapping, the scope of the project at the initial stage has been settled. It leads to the next stage of problem statement and functional specifications, then content requirements to develop associated business model solutions associated with data-collecting.
