Assignment3: Who is the target persona?
As a music fan, the first idea that popped into my head when deciding on my topic was to make a website related to live house. Firstly, my own experience of going to watch live house performances reflects some of the problems in the industry, with fragmented information spread across various platforms and organizers having an unquestioned say over venues. Thus, me myself can be defined as one kind of persona but this would lead to bias, and we shouldn’t do research with pre-existing assumption.
After interviewing several of music lovers, I have summarized the target audience into three categories:
1. Music fans with a particular taste for certain bands and musicians, only want to watch their performance
2. Music fans with an appreciation of music but no fixed preference for watching shows, treating live house as a way of relaxation
3. not a huge music fan but wants to watch live house performance for fun
In my proposal, for the sustainability of the website, I will introduce a membership feature that will give those who sign up as members discounts on tickets, peripheral products, albums, etc., Also, this membership will be renewed on a quarterly basis, considering the cycle of people going to watch performances. To achieve the business goal, my target audience needs to have some purchasing power and live in an area with a wide choice of live houses. As a result, I choose the second one as my target persona and specify them as office workers in tier 1 cities (e.g. Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen), with basic spending power and have the need of relaxation through music shows.
